Forest School

Our dream has become a reality!

Our Little Forest

Forest School is an inspirational process that offers children the opportunity to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland environment. It teaches them about how to care for living creatures, along with learning how to respect nature. Forest School can help people to reconnect with nature and it has been shown to improve mental health in adolescence. Experiencing it at a young age has huge benefits to children them they grow up.

Little Laura’s is surrounded by beautiful woodland, we are so lucky to have it on our doorstep. We already take the children daily for walks into various woodlands, which are only a short walk from nursery. Children of all ages benefit immensely from this and are always accompanied by qualified practitioners, who will guide them through this lovely learning experience.. We believe so much in the importance of walking for everyone and whilst our children’s progress in physical development is high we know it is embedded in all areas of learning. We believe this is why Forest Schools and outdoor learning are becoming so popular now as people understand the benefits.

“Let the children be free; encourage them; let them run outside when it is raining; let them remove their shoes when they find a puddle of water; and when the grass of the meadow is wet with dew, let them run on it and trample it with their bare feet; let them rest peacefully when a tree invites them to sleep beneath its shade; let them shout and laugh when the sun wakes them in the morning” – Marie Montessori

Our sessions

We will be running the sessions alongside nursery in the mornings. We will be taking twelve children aged 3 plus to the woods from 9.30am – 12pm. There is no extra charge, it is included in our fees. Parents will be informed which day of the week their child will be attending to ensure they have the relevant clothing at nursery and can prepare their child in the morning before they arrive that they will be going out.

“Children’s minds were not built to sit & be taught. They were built to explore, play & learn!“
