Little Laura’s Nursery Methodology:

The free childcare entitlements are delivered completely free of charge, however they are not intended to cover the costs of all food, and other consumables (such as sun cream, wipes, calpol etc), additional hours or additional activities. Our methodology was chosen based on our desire to make the funded hours as accessible as possible for everyone, whilst continuing to provide the highest standard of care with additional services available.

We ask families to attend for more than 1 day for continuity for their child’s well-being as a single day can be very unsettling when building relationships with their peers and teachers. Attending a minimum of two 7 hour days is advised. To enable the nursery to provide hot lunch, snacks, other consumables and activities to support families, above and beyond the delivery of the EYFS those that can be provided for through the free entitlement, we ask parents to choose to opt in or out of the ‘voluntary payment’ please see further detail below.

Voluntary meals and consumables payment:

The additional voluntary payment includes:

  • Meals – All snacks (am and pm), breakfast for those booked in to arrive before 8.30am, high quality snacks made by our chef, include whole foods and a nutritious home cooked meal with main and dessert – £7
  • Consumables – sun cream, wipes (bottom and face), regular cookery activities -£1.50
  • Outings and events – Forest school, walks in the local area, yoga on Monday and events hosted throughout the year, i.e, sports day and the nativity, including gifts –£5.00

Flexibility and guaranteed advance booking of days (where available or at the earliest opportunity)

The ‘additional voluntary payment for meals, consumables, outings and events’ is: £13.50 per funded day

Where the funding is used for part of a day (less than 4hrs) there is no request for a voluntary contribution.

Voluntary payment Opt out:

If you wish to opt out of the voluntary payment for mealsconsumablesoutings and events:

It is not compulsory to commit to the voluntary payment and parents/carers can choose to opt out of these services. If you choose to opt out please supply your child with the following:

  • All snacks, breakfast and lunch must be provided in accordance with our meals policy
  • Limited access to Forest school, walks in the local area, yoga on Monday
  • Gifts for events and celebrations
  • Limited access to regular cookery

Additional hours above the Free Entitlement hours:

You will be charged for any additional hours you have chosen of childcare your child has over and above the free entitlement at Little Laura’s hourly rate. (If your child attends a second nursery setting, your childcare funding will be split between settings and therefore you will be liable for any hours over and above the funding.)
